Does anybody know if I can get the nav firmware update from the dealer or would it come coded in the newer navigation DVD's.Just so we're all clear - a navigation DVD is the DVD map that you basically just slide into the Nav unit & leave it there. It has road & places info. A Nav firmware (CD) is used to update the Nav OS, and you put the OS CD into the Nav just to update the OS of the Nav, then take it out & put your Nav map back in.

2 completely different disks, for 2 completely different functions. Here's what the V32 Firmware CD looks like that I ordered directly from my local dealer.

I performed this update last week and I've also included a few screen captures showing the software update progress on the head unit display. On my MKIV unit the update procedure took about four (4) minutes to complete from start to finish. To me it was a real no-brainer to order the official CD and not try to mess with FTP files, ISO images, etc. The official disk only set me back a whopping $6.38 from the dealer. And I personalized the power on warning that you have to accept every time.Just for info for others, it's pretty easy to just eliminate that accept screen altogether. If you're comfortable downloading & using Nav OS CDs, just load a lower version of your current Nav OS, then re-load your current Nav OS CD.That little procedure puts the MKIV in Euro mode where the accept screen isn't used.Doing that (going into Euro mode) also changes the distances from feet to yards, but I prefer yards as it's easier for me to 'visualize' 100 yards (a football field) vs. Say 250 feet or something like that. Well worth not having to acknowledge that accept screen all the time (to me). Here's what the V32 Firmware CD looks like that I ordered directly from my local dealer. Bmw Navigation Map Update

Hi Guys,I have recently downloaded a new software version for the sat nav in my z4 and when i put the new disc in my disc drive the maps look identical. I don't think anything has changed.I have the professional navigation in my car and i downloaded BMW Road Map Europe 2010-1 HIGH. I thought this would update the maps and possibly the look of the maps in my car but i haven't had any luck. Am i missing something or am i trying to do something that is impossible?Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks,Ben.

The newer versions simply update the maps with road changes - it doesn't change the way the maps are displayed on the screen.Still find the maps on both the BMW & TomTom systems are never 100% anyway. There will always be about a year's lag between survey, collation & modification, and distribution of the —although some roundabouts in my area have been traffic light controlled junctions for 10 years, so maybe they leave some intentional errors in to prevent other companies using their mapping data (I know Ordnance Survey used to). At least I can put my own changes into the TomTom system (i.e.

New roundabouts, change turn restrictions, change speed limits, etc.).Although as cj10jeeper put previously, if you download hook software then it's your problem if something goes wrong, and don't expect much support from here or the 'unoffical supplier'. For info:I've upgraded the firmware from Ver 26 to Ver 32 using a Mac. I downloaded NAVSW(32).rar from:Search that site, or for a link on Xoutpost.com.Extract the file: NAVSW(32).iso using UnRarXBurn it to a cd using Disc Utility, using the slowest speed (8X) (In User/applications/Utilities/)Then Install it in line with these instructions:and these:All in all took about 5 minutesNote. Even if BMW carries out an owner requested update to the software it is not warrantied by them. The firmware is a cost option only in man hours from BMW so you may as well do it yourself.
